DAVE’S MURDER MILE
by Lyn Towers
Fourteen year old Joe’s future as a runner is threatened by his father, Dave, who can’t let go of his past, an era when athletes were penalized by the Amateur Athletics Association if they ran a race organized by a professional association. Joe needs parental permission to run the National Cross Country, an amateur race. But he’s run the Murder Mile, a professional race, so dad won’t sign the form to allow Joe to run the Nationals. Joe can’t believe his own father is standing in the way of his dream. Then things begin to happen and Dad begins to worry. Can he accept change? If he doesn’t he’s in danger of losing everything he values, including his son.
